About Caroline
I have been coaching and tutoring students since 1994 when I worked with VIP Tutoring in Austin, Texas for two years. In Houston, I worked with the Clinic for Academic Therapy from 1996 until early 2012.
I earned my B.A. in Literature, Master of Occupational Technology, Master of Education, and Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston. I am also a certified educational diagnostician.
I specialize in using learning science to address the learning needs of students both with and and without learning disabilities to help students to develop effective organizational and study skills. I offer comprehensive test preparation for the ISEE and the HSPT, as well as providing support for a number of other standardized tests. I have worked extensively with students on ACT and SAT preparation. I have also provided support for GRE, TASP and GED. Additionally, I consult with high school seniors on college essay writing and provide writing support and remediation when needed for middle and high school and college.
I have worked as a middle and high school teacher in a number of schools in the Houston and Austin areas. As an adjunct professor at the University of Houston, I helped to design and then taught a writing intensive social science class in the College of Technology for seven years from 2003 to 2011. I am also a professional freelance writer, copy editor, and published poet.
Currently, in addition to my tutoring and assessing, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Houston's College of Education.
